Paris, Santiago de Chile

As the economy continues to grow in Chile, the new, increasingly affluent middle classes have money to spend and a newfound hunger for Western fashion brands.

Paris, Chile's main department store chain has revamped its 25,000 sq ft womenswear department in an attempt to become the leading destination for incoming fashion brands such as Zara, Topshop, H&M and Free People.

As with all department stores, there is always tension between giving the brands space to breathe, whilst still creating a personality for yourself.

It's a tricky balancing act, but Paris turned to leading UK design agency Dalziel & Pow to tackle it.

The result is a tightly edited space with flexible architecture which can house lots of different brands, but with its own strong unified design style, achieved by combining natural and distressed materials such as wood and grass, with more contemporary finishes such as brass, copper, golden mesh and yards of concrete for the service counters.

The central atrium has inbuilt interior VM 'windows' which can be dressed seasonally, whilst the green wall entrances provides a really powerful 'first bite'.

As ever, another very solid project from the UK's leading design agency. Nice work D&P!
